$200 Million Dollar Mess...

With NCDMF appearing to be out of compliance since 2007 (10 yrs) we know it places the entire state out of compliance, including NCWRC.

Using an average of $20M +/- in federal excise P/R D/J W/R benefits rcvd by North Carolina wildlife & fisheries agencies annually over the past 10 years, it suggest possibly the MFC Commissioners letter dated 3/29 suggesting $3M was at risk is puzzling.

Perhaps the $3M was earmarked for audit expenses, as mitigation expenses are much higher.

Where will the General Assembly get the funds to keep these agency going?  Bonds?

Here is what Alabama had to say...

These federal funds are generated by federal excise taxes on hunting and fishing gear and are returned based on the number of hunting and fishing licenses sold in each state and each state's total land mass.

Additionally, the diversion would also trigger a $25 million pay back provision of federal money already received from those two programs for next year.

"Are you suggesting studies are written to fail?"

I'm suggesting incompetence (with a high cost), but outcome based manipulation is a possiblity too.

Is the Senior Stock Assessment Scientist listed under Job B at $118,000+ per year the same one that couldn't get a passed, peer reviewed southern flounder stock assessment?

North Carolina 1998 on an unrelated wildlife law, illustrating USFWS authority.  This further illustrates why the NC General Assemble should leave resource management up to the agencies.

After reading Montana's Opinion dated 3/6/2017 in the previous post and the above expenses are we still at $3M as DMF suggested in yesterday's letter??
